About the NSBGS

The Nova Scotia Board Gaming Society was officially formed in January 2011. We have a few ongoing projects, the two most notable being Boardgasm, our quarterly board gaming day and Boardpocalypse, our annual board gaming marathon. For more information about these events, see their respective tabs, above!

About the The Board Members

Jason Fawcett - President
Twitter: @Jelthar

We would not be here if it were not for Jason! A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away (known as Jason's apartment), the first Boardgasm was held. It consisted of only a few friends, and served as a way for Jason to try out new games. From those meek beginnings, Boardgasm grew each year, and we were finally able to open the event up to the public in 2010. Jason also co-hosts a YouTube Web Show, 2 Guys and Some Cardboard (https://www.youtube.com/user/2GASCB).

Ken Sullivan - Vice President
Twitter: @Ethankyou

Kenny has been around since the inception of Boardgasm in Jason's basement, and has played an important role in all things NSBGS related. He co-hosts 2 Guys and Some Cardboard with Jason (see link above).

(Matt) Chapple - Treasurer
Twitter: @ThatChapple

Chapple moved to Halifax from Ontario in 2004. A few years later, he managed to work his way into our gaming group (and our hearts) after he met Jason through work. He started gaming at the ripe young age of 13, when he started playing the Rifts RPG. Not only is he usually up for any kind of gaming, he has always been enthusiastic and motivated to help the NSBGS grow in any way he can. He currently works part-time at Quantum Frontier, a local gaming store here in Halifax, and one of the locations that Boardgasm is held.

Kate Thompson - Secretary
Twitter: @iamkaity

Kate moved to Halifax from New Brunswick in 2003. She is also a veteran NSBGS participant, having attended some of the early "Basement Boardgasms" with Jason and Kenny. Kate is a perpetual student at Dalhousie, but enjoys filling her free time with nerdy endeavours such as board games, RPGs, and Magic The Gathering.

Dave Roy - VP Events
Twitter: @OdinWolf74

Dave is originally from Winnipeg, but has moved around a bit and spent time living all across Canada, from Vancouver to St. John's. He has been living in Halifax since 2007, where he met -- you guessed it -- Jason Fawcett. Dave attended a few Boardgasms with us before they opened up to the public, and has been with us ever since! Aside from a love of board games, Dave also enjoys karaoke and passionately digesting media like books, movies, and TV series.

  1. Greetings;
I would have liked to send a direct email, but can't seem to find a non-twitter contact.

I'm hoping this organization is still active (or at least on hold during covid).

I'm a megagame organizer and creator, and I wanted to see if there was anyone who had time to discuss what that is, and if the organization is interested in hosting one (for charity).

    Hope to hear from anyone.
